This is the only movie theatre I know of anywhere which is supported by public contributions and even gets corporate and foundation funds!
It is an old theatre (Grand Ol’ Opry was there for awhile many years ago) which was still operating as a movie theatre when we first came to this area, but was struggling. It closed for awhile, but is now under the auspices of some sort of Board, and shows a real conglomeration of things. Sometimes a good movie, sometimes an old classic, sometimes local theatre stage plays, sometimes benefit functions – anything that will bring in revenue, I think. But it is worth keeping, as evidenced by the corporate and foundation support it gets.
It’s just that you can’t depend on it for movies, and they don’t even advertise in the newspaper, so one must remember to go in on their website often to see what’s showing, possibly.
