Who's afraid of the big bad wolf? What about the wolf's extended family?
Greta lives in terror of her own surroundings. Following a dream wherein she attempts to save a babe in the woods, she awakens visibly shaken. Uncertain of the familiar, she searches for answers behind every odd sound. Considering that the silence that envelops her feels as if the camera is holding its breath in fear, each successive sound is startling.
Director Maria-Anna Rimpfl maintains an eerie climate around a remote German estate. Three humans and a dog are enough to stimulate a chilling sensation of a foreboding world that extends to mental facilities. How does one escape the growling voices in her head?
So goes a German proverb, "Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is."
