In a harsh world, an act of kindness makes a lasting impression.
Director Jordan Burt presents both sides of the story when Jorge crosses the border to find work in order to support his family. His day-to-day in Mexico is reflected against that of a young director from an affluent San Diego neighborhood. When the director becomes involved in an accident with another illegal alien, his outlook on the world around him is altered.
The filming style is straightforward and characters behave with simple compassion. The conflicting lifestyles lack any malicious stereotypes, but the viewpoint feels narrow. Based on the director's own experience, the story is limited in emotion despite being wide in outreach.
Burt has good intentions, but his direction feels young and sheltered. However, his inspiration has heart.
