Be careful what you collect. It may not be ready to be boxed away.

In director David Lowery's creative little film, the story is presented as a carefully framed slide show, similar to the format of the 1962 short, "La Jetée." A woman recounts her childhood hobby of finding odds and ends around the countryside, often as dead insects and animals. Attracted to their look and feel, she gives little thought to their history. Until she finds a dead fairy.

Each frame tells its own story, and much like the girl's fascination with the objects, their artful appearance draws the audience into her enthrallment. Though she distances herself from thinking beyond physical states, it seems impossible not to give each item a backstory.

Lowery's story is simple yet beautifully odd, relatable yet imaginative. This is the second segment of a triptych, and it would be interesting to view it in its complete arrangement.
