Red Like the Sky is one of those beautifully pure films that explores the first spark of cinematic love before one even realizes the connection.
Often and appropriately associated with Cinema Paradiso, it focuses on a boy who loses his sight but gains a heightened sense of hearing that allows him to create imaginative sound effects for the tales he tells with his friends. Supposedly based on the childhood of Italian sound engineer Mirco Mencacci, it isn't the biography but the focus on genuine creativity that is important. A lovely demonstration of the sweet escape of the imagination through aural storytelling.
