PS Film Noir Fest, Day 3:
Twisted Sisters

Three Sisters

I work hard during the week, so at 10 a.m. on Saturday I prefer to be sleeping. But I made an exception today, as did a full house of noir fans.

The Palm Springs Film Noir Fest continued its third day of the dark stuff with a movie that leaned over the B-movie edge. Three Bad Sisters is more accurately about two bad sisters and one slightly unhinged sister vying for their recently departed father’s fortune. A handsome pilot gets pulled into the web, and the black widows attack -- maniacally and with close-up freak-outs.

With two especially sultry and not so-subtle sisters trying to kill each other and spitting men out like used gum, good lines were overflowing:

* “I graduated magna cum laude from Embraceable You.”
* “I’m only waiting ‘til I’m your brother-in-law to give you a well-deserved spanking.” “Formal? Or bareback?”
* “If you see anything you want, come and get it.”
* “Scotch, bourbon or arsenic?”
* “I only get kicks out a man when I’m stealing him from another woman.”
* “You shouldn’t go around taking chances with that lovely fuselage.”
* “So long, loverboy. Get lost.”
* “I’m another of the devastating Craigs. I’m the exciting one.”
* “Just selecting my most devastating ammunition.”
* “When I want special attention, I’ll order it.”
* “I just caught Valerie in his arms.” “Not in my arms. The only arms working were hers.”
* “It takes a woman, not a psychopath.”
