I totally dig funky little fests. One I've been jonesin' to attend is the Black Maria Film Fest (the name comes from Edison's first motion picture studio). A touring fest, its director presents each program as it jets around the country, tailored 55 shows to the local audiences. Cool, right? Check out the tour schedule and jump aboard!
Another oddball fest is the Found Footage Fest, also touring. It began with a collection of garage sale videos...and it really hasn't changed much. Check out their touring dates and appreciate the badness.
