I love, love, love film festivals. Back-to-back films, all day long, with just enough time at night to write reviews and get in a few winks before the next day of insanity.
The desert's been great for feeding my addiction. The impressive International fest, the unique Native American fest and the cozy Student fest have been highlights from the year so far. And I'm extremely excited about the upcoming Film Noir fest (May 31-June 3).
But alas, I'm not at Cannes.
Just to sneak a peak at the Coen Bros upcoming No Country for Old Men, Gael García Bernal’s directing debut Déficit, Michael Moore’s healthcare attack Sicko, the enviro doc 11th Hour, the multi-directed Chacun son cinéma, shorts, shorts, shorts, Olivier on the big screen, Kar Wai Wong’s My Blueberry Nights, and of course all the new-to-me filmmakers’ works that are the key to a good fest.
Oh, and there’s that whole being on the French Riviera thing. Never hurts to take a breather aboard a yacht.
I’d be happy to cover the closing weekend if anyone has spare tickets.
