This is a great little fest. Not only does producer Art Lyons gather films that you may never see again (though I hope the screenings help push DVD releases to spark interest elsewhere), but every show is introduced by an expert in the field (2007: Joel Blumberg, Jay Allan Fenton, Foster Hirsch, Alain Silver), who will discuss some aspect of noir and the film itself, and more often than not will interview one of the film’s stars afterwards (2007: Richard Anderson, Carroll Baker, Rhonda Fleming, Kathleen Hughes, Stanley Rubin, John Saxon, Warren Stevens).
It is definitely a fest for film lovers, and the audience is often educated and always enthusiastic. Nothin’ like seeing noir on the big screen and chuckling over zingers with other cineastes.
