What to watch when you can't lift your head

This past weekend I was lucky enough to experience food poisoning. On Sunday, I couldn’t lift my head without getting nauseous, so walking the 20 feet to the living room to watch Simpsons DVDs was out of the question.

Though most of the day I was either passed out hoping the hours would fly by faster or admiring a fortunately recent scrub job by sitting on the bathroom floor, I did manage to catch True Hollywood Story’s tale of Steven & Liv Tyler (lemme tell you, there was nothing on). But I fell asleep in the middle, so I’ll never know how those two crazy kids actually hooked up (they are dating, right?).

In slightly better shape on Monday, I dragged myself to the couch and flipped through my mounting Tivo list, mostly from Turner Classic Movies. Painfully in love with Cary Grant, I chose The Awful Truth. No His Girl Friday (but then, what is?), but the chemistry between Grant & Irene Dunne is always fun (though I think I prefer them in My Favorite Wife).

Next up was The Adventures of Robin Hood, because who doesn’t like a good swashbuckling tale when you can’t eat or move? I had to keep rewinding it because I kept falling asleep, but it was fun to see da Hood leap back up onto the staircase/wall/tree in reverse.

Ah, TCM. More soothing than Pepto.

Debz:

I have gotten many comments (I realize the commenting system is flawed -- I'm working on it) regarding Liv & Steven Tyler. I'm well aware they're dau & dad -- badly made joke, I guess.

Diane:

eew - sorry about the food poisoning - but I think that Liv Tyler is Steven Tyler's daughter.
